12 MJ ABBOTT The year for MJ Abbott started and ended at Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire, England. In January 2025, we completed a pilot project of five additional tees on the Old course as part of Gil Hanse’s work and then returned in November for the first phase of the New course restoration project. We have also worked at La Moye Golf Club on the island of Jersey with Tom Mackenzie of Mackenzie & Ebert, completing two new holes on elevated land between the existing course and the sea, with incredible views. This phase also included rebuilding the tenth fairway, which previously didn’t drain well. We stripped the top 600 millimetres of heavy clay material, stockpiled it, excavated loads of sand and then swapped the material around. It was a massive undertaking and a really important project. On the island of Guernsey, we have completed a third season of work with Robin Hiseman of European Golf Design at La Grande Mare Golf Club.
